Lise Waring has worked in the communications field for over 25 years. With a background in science editing, marketing and storytelling, she draws from a diverse stock of skills. She specializes in content management, social media and editing. Lise believes that storytelling, as a professional tool, is often oversold and misunderstood. Consequently, she is a passionate collaborator in Gaines Consulting’s GREAT Storytelling program.
As an independent consultant, Lise has worked with clients that run the spectrum from Silicon Valley tech companies to NASA scientists. The list includes Backblaze, Bay Area Environmental Research Institute, Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, Feronia Forests, Vertical Water, Haworth, AutoGrid and others.
In 1989, Lise began her career in Hungary as a stringer for Newsweek magazine during the Romanian Revolution. She was later a senior editor at a publishing company in Telluride, Colorado, before becoming the marketing manager at the Telluride Tourism Board. In 2010, she moved to the Bay Area to expand her reach as a communications consultant.
In addition to post baccalaureate work from her time in Hungary, Lise holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound in dual majors, English and art history, and attended graduate school at Oregon State University in scientific and technical communications.
